This grate has a clear matte porcelain coating.They are a rougher finish them the cast iron grids that are using the semi- gloss porcelain. One big advantage with Matte finish is that if you drop them the porcelain will not chip like the semi does.

 

This is an aftermarket part. And DIFFERS from the OEM by not having a thick glossy porcelain coating. Cast Iron Grates with a matte porcelain finish will have a rough texture vs smooth.
